Electronic Library on International Commercial Law and the CISG (Pace University) This
website is arguably the most comprehensive collection of freely
available commentary on the CISG. It is an easily navigated
site. The Annotated guide to the CISG is particularly
useful. The site is maintained by Professor Albert Krtizer at
Pace University Law School.
Also on this site are links to the Autonomous Network of CISG websites. Corterier's Commentary on the CISG This
commentary "strives to pay particular attention to the walith of
information on the CISG already available online. It puts these
resources at your fingertips by linking directly to the more important
works to be found out there."
Revised Guide to International Trade Law Sources on the Internet The
‘Revised Guide to International Trade Law Sources on the
Internet’ by Marci Hoffman provides a very useful introduction to
using the internet as a research tool. The site is easy to use
and contains many links.
ASIL Guide to Electronic Resources for International Law ASIL
Guide to Electronic Resources for International Law provides numerous
links to primary international commercial law documents. It also
contains information about other fee charging services.
CENTRAL CENTRAL
is the Centre for Transnational Law and is run by Professor Klaus Peter
Berger. This site has further links to "The First Online Digest
on the New Lex Mercatoria" and "Comprehensive Link Collection on
Transnaitonal Commercial Law".
Brooklyn Law School Library and Technology - International Trade Law This site provides a lot of useful international trade law links.
UNCITRAL The
UNCITRAL website can be viewed in a number of different languages.
Official documents can be easily obtained. The Digests and CLOUT (case
law) will often point researchers in the right direction.
UNIDROIT UNIDROIT
is the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.
Various articles from the Uniform Law Review are available for free on
the website.
INCOTERMS This
is the ICC site for INCOTERMS. The Preamble to each term is
available freely on the site - just click on the word Preambles
underneath the picture.
The
NJCL is a semi-annual journal which often publishes articles relating
to the CISG. This journal is free. It is provided
as a public service by the University of Turku Faculty of Law Finland
and sponsored by Hannes Snellman Attorneys at Law Ltd of Finland.
Legal Research on International Law Issues Using the Internet This
is an extremely valuable resource for anyone doing research in
international law generally. There are hundreds of links dealing
with a wide variety of international law issues, ranging from
international commercial law to humanitarian law.
Guide to International and Foreign Legal Resources - Rutgers School of Law This
site contains lots of links to online international law resources
generally. It has specifical sections on international commercial
law (including arbitration) and research guides.
Lex Mercatoria.org This site claims to have been on of the very first law sites on the web. "It
is dedicated to the provision of information on international
commercial law with subsidiary interests in commerce and (mostly open
standard) Net and information technologies that may be of interest to

Commentary on the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) (P. Schlechtriem, I. Schwenzer – Editors)
This
is a seminal CISG text. It is possibly the most cited text on the
subject. The book is quite easy to read and provides a very
useful introduction to the topic
Commentary on the International Sales Law : the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention (C. M. Bianca, M. J. Bonell - Editors) This
text provides a comprehensive discussion of each article of the
CISG. It is very often referred to at moot. It is available
online for free at the Institute of International Commercial Law at

The International Sale of Goods – Law and Practice (Michael Bridge) This text, now in its second edition, examines both English sales law and the CISG. It is comprehensive and easy to read.
International Sales Law (I.Schwenzer, C Fountoulakis, M Dimsey) “Written
for international trade lawyers, practitioners and students from common
law and civil law countries, this casebook will help practitioners and
students assimilate knowledge on the CISG”
United Nations Conference on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, Vienna, 10 March-11 April,1980 : official records : documents of the conference and summary records of the plenary meetings and the meetings of the main committees. When
examining any international instrument it is always advisable to obtain
any preliminary or preparatory documents used by the drafters.
Examining the alterations and editions made by them provides
considerable insight into the intended meaning. The travaux

Understanding the CISG in Europe (H. Bernstein and J. M. Lookofsky) This
text provides a useful discussion of the application of the CISG in
Europe. It discusses the practical realities of the CISG rather

International Sales Law: A Critical Analysis of CISG Jurisprudence (L. DiMatteo, L. Dhooge, S. Greene, V. Maurer, M. Pagnattaro) “The
authors believe that the book’s ultimate character is as a
general reference work aimed at practioner and scholarly
researchers”
The draft UNCITRAL digest and beyond : cases, analysis and unresolved issue in the U.N. sales convention (F. Ferrari, R. A. Brand, H. Flecher - Editors) The
Draft UNICTRAL digest is a particularly useful guide to the CISG case
law. UNCITRAL intend to make the digest available on their
website when it is completed (www.unictral.org). The advantage of
this text is that it provides commentary.
Practitioner's guide to the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) (H. D. Gabriel) Professor
Henry Gabriel is the official UCC reporter. The UCC is an
American instrument. This text is particularly useful when
attempting to distinguish between a UCC interpretation of the CISG and
a broader more internationally based one.
Uniform Law for International Sales under the 1980 United Nations Convention (J. Honnold) This text by John Honnold was one of the first and most important commentaries on the CISG.
Understanding the CISG in the USA: A Compact Guide to the 1980 United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (J. M. Lookofsky) This book provides a good summary of American jurisprudence on the CISG up to 1995.
International Trade Law: Commentary and Materials (M. Pryles, J. Waincymer, M. Davies) This
is a cases and commentary text on international commercial law
generally. It provides useful explanations of the CISG, Incoterms
and WTO.
Twenty years of international sales law under the CISG : The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods : international bibliography and case law digest, 1980-2000 (M. R. Will) A good summary of CISG case law.
Damages under the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (B. Zeller) As
the title suggests this book focuses specifically on the issue of
damages in the CISG. It provides a useful comparison between the
treatment of damages in a number of international instruments.
